Improved energy efficiency of well production transportation using positive displacement pumps (PDP)

AbstractThe article presents main trends for reducing power consumption in oil gathering system and demonstrates that power consumption costscan be reduced using multi-phase technologies. The pilot test results are shown to assess the feasibility of replacing the dynamic pumps to less power consuming positive displacement pumps. The conclusions are made with regards to possible utilization of positive displacement pumps in the oil gathering system.
Results
The favorable effects were obtained with regards to power consumption reduction, which amounted to an average of 70%. The results of the pilot operation make it possible to draw the conclusions that the positive displacement pumps have very good application opportunities for Tatneft’s oil facilities.
Сonclusions
1. Using multiphase pumps can reduce costsof surface facilities in new oil fields and improve performance of producing fields. 2. Using positive displacement pumps in oil pumping facilities is considered to be more efficient than using centrifugal pumps.
